At Yoga Changes, we believe yoga is more than movement—it's a path inward. Each time we show up to our mat, we’re doing more than stretching our bodies—we’re preparing the ground for stillness.
And in the philosophy of yoga, that stillness is known as Dhyana, the 7th limb of yoga.Often translated as meditation, Dhyana is more than a technique. It’s a state of effortless, steady awareness. It’s when the breath slows, the mind softens, and something deep within us begins to listen.
What is Dhyana?
You might already know Dharana—the practice of one-pointed concentration. Dhyana is what comes next. It’s when that focused effort begins to flow on its own. You’re no longer trying to meditate. You’re simply present.
Dhyana isn’t about escaping life—it’s about arriving fully into it. Moment by moment, breath by breath.
Why It Matters at Yoga Changes
At Yoga Changes, we see meditation not as something separate from your yoga practice, but as a natural extension of it. Whether you’re in a gentle class, a vigorous flow, or simply sitting in stillness, you’re building the capacity for Dhyana—to be here, now, with full awareness.
This practice brings us back to ourselves. It reveals the quiet beneath the chaos. And it reminds us that who we are—beneath all the doing—is already enough.
Want to Explore Dhyana?
Try sitting in stillness for a few minutes after your home practice. Be gentle with yourself. Meditation begins with simply noticing.
Let Dhyana meet you where you are.
